The Pre-Kindergarten program focuses on getting children ready to enter Kindergarten. We start them in this classroom at age 4 (by September 1st), so they are ready to transition to public school the following Fall. Social development is an essential skill as your child enters Kindergarten; we focus on self-regulation activities including:
The Pre-Kindergarten program emphasizes scientific exploration, math and spatial learning. Our outdoor learning areas are continually evolving, and gardening brings food and life-cycles home to the children. The gardens allow us to not only grow healthy and tasty food, but to learn about insects, soil, water, compost, roots, etc., as well as to practice math skills through measuring and graphing, and language arts skills as we write about and research our discoveries. Spatial skills are enhanced as children build with blocks and create with manipulatives. Gross motor development continues as well.
